One Space was enlisted to work in collaboration with US-based Alliance Architecture, alongside project manager Merx and main contractor 8build – to design and deliver this American international law firm’s first Singapore office. The firm occupies the top full-floor of a new Grade A office tower commanding striking views across the central business district. The prime space gives access onto an outdoor terrace with lush greenery that enjoys the tranquility of panoramic urban views.

Globally, the firm’s corporate real estate strategy focuses on optimising its leased portfolio of space, increasing efficiency, and shifting the balance of shared vs individual settings. Even before the global pandemic triggered now-commonplace hybrid work patterns, the law firm was already rethinking its work culture and was adapting itself to be future-ready. These two aspects, taken together, presented a challenging, but exciting, Brief.

This law firm is consistently recognised in the media as a great place to work, and was named numerous times as a “Fortune 100 Best Companies to Work For”. So from the outset, our design emphasis was on creating a stellar Employee Experience.

Together with Alliance Architecture, we focused on creating a transformative environment – for both employees and visitors – that embraces the widest range of workstyles and alters the perception of how a law firm should look and feel. The result is a bold, progressive and entirely unique experience. The workplace is supported by a sophisticated blend of enclosed, shielded and open spaces, with hospitable amenities that reinforce the indoor-outdoor connection to the landscaped garden that adjoins it.

Importantly, One Space’s intimate knowledge of the Singapore context – culturally, behaviourally materially & statutorily – gave our client the necessary confidence towards executing, to the highest standards, global design principles generated by Alliance in the USA.
