Our Client is a China-headquartered multinational technology conglomerate and one of the world’s most highly-valued companies. They launched a new, Hong Kong-licensed joint venture in the reinsurance sector, in May 2021 to meet the rising demands of the fin-tech market. The venture’s debut premises occupy a 7,900 sq ft space at The Gateway, a prime location in Tsim Sha Tsui.

The design Brief was to communicate that their brand stands at the forefront of technological innovation, aligning its business offering with the future of financial markets in the region.  Our concept was inspired by the different states of light emitted over time, eliciting an aura of exploration and discovery. The strikingly modern Reception area is animated by the constantly-moving play of light and shadow, achieved through pivotable, chrome-plated vertical fins organised in blade-like fashion to form a reflective yet permeable backdrop.

Against the company’s strategy to promote creativity and diversity, a bar island area to serve its staff and customers takes centre-stage beneath a rounded, open-ceiling feature meant to represent the skies. This welcoming area directly adjoins the Reception zone, to also serve as a client lounge with open sea views.

Beyond this area, the open-plan workspace offers staff a wide choice of diverse work settings, supporting both collaborative and focused work.
