First, QBE eschewed all enclosed offices, opting for open and shielded workstations and touchdown tables, arranged in ‘neighborhoods’ to support teamwork. These open work settings were supported by Focus Rooms for confidentiality and breakout spaces for ad hoc discussions. Social gathering and meeting spaces, along with F&B facilities helped create a greater sense of community. Two social hubs were built to further encourage staff engagement. The “Oasis” acted as a mixed-purpose social space for meetings, while the “Ice Room” acted as an F&B space for peers.
