Consulate General of Switzerland

The Domestic Interiors of Swiss Modernist

Our enhanced understanding of the nature of this project and its unique challenges derives from our direct experience with the Consulate General premises at an early stage of the feasibility strategy. Under the guidance of the Hong Kong Consul General, we conducted numerous design and planning studies.

We adept in, and sensitised to, engaging productive with multiple stakeholders. We understand that vital roles will be played by relevant government agencies, involving stringent security control and access requirements. Our approach established clear lines of communication, to respect the value & purpose of each role, and to capture decisions taken together so that progress is not impeded.

The brief requires modifications to rationalize the space – ‘surgical interventions’, one could say – into a live, working office. As the lead-design consultancy role of a project manager, the project entail intricate programming, costing and logistical problem solving to ensure it remains economical, whilst abiding by best practice health & safety standards. Our integrated design and delivery team gained firsthand knowledge of this Landlord, of the idiosyncrasies of these premises, and of the fit-out economics for this site.

The design aims to celebrate the nation’s influential design ethos of timelessness combined with simplicity and sophistication. The choice of colour and materials showcase the national pride and modernist concepts on aesthetics that stands out for their coherence and precisions, characterized by the iconic designers furniture and fixtures throughout the space.
