A Heritage Brand Reimagined
With a heritage that dates back to pre-industrial England in 1785, this renowned global cost management consultancy has operated in Hong Kong since 1962. As they relocated their offices from Hong Kong Island to Kwun Tong, the firm’s executives approached One Space to develop a new workplace model spanning 1-3/4 floors in a Grade A tower with a large floorplate.
Our early briefings revealed the firm’s proud heritage, and their legacy of blue chip clients in Asia, as their defining DNA. The profession of cost consultancy is fast-changing, with digital tools and computational processes replacing the long, labourious calculations that previously characterised this discipline. Today, the value-add is in the wisdom of real-world project experience they bring.
The stable assuredness expected of this trade demands a more conservative tone. Our design, therefore, celebrates the bound ledgers, antique books and early tools of the trade as a backdrop for RLB’s modernised role in the industry. Stately displays of heritage items give gravitas to the client-facing spaces, whilst more vibrant and approachable workspaces support both collaboration and concentration. ‘Neighbourhoods’ of 20 – 35 workstations are bounded by touchdown tables and layout surfaces, fostering knowledge-sharing across teams.
