This regional insurance provider is majority-owned by Pacific Century Group under Richard Li Tzar Kai, whose in-house special advisor provided FWD with project guidance from start to finish.

When FWD decided to relocate their Hong Kong HQ from Sheung Wan to City Plaza 3, they quickly recognised the need for an expertly managed and sensitively delivered Change Management programme directly linked to the Workplace design aims, and led by the interior architect.

The unprecedented opportunity for FWD to locate all related staff onto a single 17,500 square-foot floorplate was a major driver for our work. We conducted countless studies of various typologies, describing settings, utilisation patterns and spatial metrics for each one, with comparisons.

We helped narrow down the ‘entitlement’ workstation types from 6 no. to 4 no., and abolished title-driven spaces.

Stakeholder engagement was intensive and complex, as the Steering Committee comprised a wide range of vantage-points and needs. For example, the move from largely cellularised to hybrid space (open, shielded, enclosed) was socialised through numerous consultation and comparison exercises, before the final anatomical parts (the “DNA”) were established and fixed.
