The retailer sells a wide range of imported organic health & beauty products, homeopathic remedies and all-natural products.
Located along a highly-trafficked MTR entrance, the shop’s superb footfall potential hadn’t yet been fully exploited. We saw the opportunity to dramatically increase its retail presence and command attention from several points of arrival by creating expansive areas of transparent frontage.
In the absence of daylight or ambient retail lighting, we kept the frontage mostly open and permeable, and deployed floating triangular membrane light panels and large-format mirrors to loosely define a ceiling plane against a blackened soffite. The shop’s architectural expression is one of compositional equilibrium: Broad surfaces and highly-articulated fittings are gently balanced against one another, leading the customer from one product experience to the next. A strikingly cantilevered service counter demarcates the pharmacy zone (demanding regulatory compliance), whilst a hair & skin laboratory defines the far corner of the shop.
Because the products come from around the world in a wide range of shapes, sizes, packaging and colours, we created a robust framework of black-&-white throughout the shop, allowing them to speak for themselves within the dominion of the overall brand umbrella that unifies them.
